It never fails...it seems like every single day when I check for news in the world of Airsoft, I come across a story about some dumbass robbing or assaulting someone with an Airsoft gun...Obviously because of how much they resemble the real thing. These geniuses forced their way into the home of a 47 year old woman and ransacked the place. The cops eventually showed up and the suspects fled. Take it easy with your Airsoft guns out there. Airsoft used in Police Training Exercises, Active Shooter

I just came across this really cool article that talks about how AirSoft technology is being implemented to help train police officers in real life situations, more specifically Active Shooter situations. This is a new term in law enforcement that particularly centers around shootings that take place in school settings, or any other public locations such as the workplace. Because of such recent incidents, more focus has been shifted towards training officers to deal with these situations.

"To date there have been over forty (five and rising) recorded incidents of active shootings and despite all that has happened, many jurisdictions have still no planning or training for a crisis situation. Many agencies are now aware they must start preparing for just such an event ahead of time because it is too late to plan, practice and execute a plan when the incident is already in progress."

Crackdown on AirSoft in Sonoma, California

As with many areas in the United States, AirSoft is a touchy and often controversial subject for the residents and authority figures. There have been numerous cases of confusion for real firearms and false alarms with witnesses and observers of AirSoft Milsims, or military simulations. One of the main reasons for this is the orange safety cap that comes on all airSoft guns; many times, the more serious enthusiasts will paint over the safety cap to enhance the intensity and realness of the simulation. Obviously, the guns then appear to be the real thing...which isn't exactly the smartest thing to do. The police department of Sonoma county has recently announced that they will begin to strictly enforce the California law that prohibits the discharge of any firearm around homes and occupied buildings...so for all you airSoft heads out there on the West Coast, better make sure you take your games to specified AirSoft fields. Think about it, what is cooler than being able to shoot someone from really, really far away? Even cooler than that, they have no idea where you are, or that you are even there. Believe me, when I am out in airsoft combat situations, there is no place I would rather be then down on the ground, ducked behind a stump with someone lined up in my scopes...just waiting to fire one off straight at them. Before they know it, they're hit and they have no idea where it came from. Sniper rifles are the best way to go, hands down. Man Accused of Shooting Kids with Airsoft Gun.

Check out this story from the Austin Daily Herald in Austin Minnesota. This story is coming at you from a few weeks ago, around February 12th...real smart guy, he claims he was trying to teach them proper gun safety...good job!

A Sargeant man has been charged with shooting his two children, ages 9 and 11, with an airsoft pellet gun.

According to the complaint, A Mower County sheriff’s deputy met with a Dodge County sheriff’s deputy on Jan. 6 to retrieve a report documenting child abuse involving a pellet gun.

On Jan. 20, a detective spoke on the phone with the defendant, who would not commit to a time or place to meet with the detective, and asked if his ex-wife reported the alleged incident. He said that he shot one child in the stomach and the other in the chest because he was teaching them that “guns should not be pointed at people.” Records show he claimed his children wanted to know how it felt to be shot.

Both children said it hurt. The defendant, age 40, told officers he shot with hard plastic pellets, which travel at 220 to 325 feet per second, and said they “can put somebody’s eye out easily.”

He told the detective that “sometimes the only way you learn is through the school of hard knocks,” and claimed his father did the same thing to him.

The defendant turned over two guns to the Law Enforcement Center in Austin.

He is charged with two counts of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon; two counts gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child; and two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault.

The defendant, who has not been named to protect the identities of the children, has been summoned to appear in Mower County District Court on March 9. Both victims are residents of Dodge County.

Lets face it, there is nothing cooler than a sniper rifle...think about it, having a scope and being able to hide and snipe from far distances is every man's military dream. Check out this list of awesome Airsoft sniper rifles I have assembled below. These things are sick, and I highly recommend each and every one of these guns...they will not let you down.

First off, we got the Type 96 Airsoft sniper rifle with Leapers 4x40 scope. This is the most powerful rifle at a whopping 465 Feet per second with a bipod for extra support. The high power of this rifle allows you to snipe targets at twice the regular distance of unmodified AEGS. The majority of this gun is metal, only the stock is ABS, everything else...METAL. This rifle combines firepower and comfort and delivers unbelievable performance...this truly is an exceptional gun.

Next we have an Electric Dragunov SVD Airsoft Sniper Rifle. This is another completely metal rifle that weighs in at 6.5 lbs. This gun isn't quite as powerful, but still comes in at a respectable 350 FPS. Since this is an electric gun, it will shoot considerably faster...15-20 rounds per second. This gun comes with a number of accessories as well, including a battery charger and bipod. Check out this rifle below.

Airsoft UHC Spring Rifle Review

Today we are specifically looking at the Super 9 Bolt Action with rotating magazines with BB shells and eject shells. This is a really great gun. It is very accurate, very strong, and very affordable. This gun is also of modest weight so it doesn't really feel like you are holding a toy.

One slight disadvantage of this gun is that it does require some assembly, but shouldn't be much a problem for most people. The barrel is also supposed to be screwed into place but there's no pre-made holes in to for the screws so I'm guessing you have to force the screws in to the barrel to make some impromptu holes. Assembly is easy to follow though and only takes a couple minutes. There's nothing to mess up. Also, being a bolt action rifle re-loading can be quite slow, but the rifle comes with a high capacity magazine that will only require the bolt to be cocked. The bolt takes a bit of muscle to pull back though, and if it doesn't bet pulled all the way back, the shell wont eject properly and the bolt will slide back loading another shell while the used shell is still in the chamber...avoid this by just pulling back fast. This rifle does have the possibility to mount a scope, however the downside is that the rails to mount a scope and bipod aren't included with the standard package.

This is definitely a great gun, and definitely good for any Airsoft enthusiast.

Well, what exactly is airsoft and what is the point...well the point is FUN! Airsoft is defined as a modern combat sport or recreational hobby in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with spherical non-metallic pellets launched from a compressed-air gun powered by gas, manual spring-load, or an electrically powered gearbox. Sounds pretty cool huh? Well you don't even know the half of it, take a look at the guns!!

Pretty cool if you ask me...the vast assortment of various guns seems to draw most people into it...where else can you get a replica of an M-16 or a Bazooka that actually works...it shoots pellets, but still looks really awesome. Airsoft competitors and enthusiasts often organize meetings, both indoors and outdoors, at dedicated battlefields to play a variety of games ranging from short-term skirmishes, organized scenarios, military simulations and even historical reenactments. The combat situations often involve military tactics to achieve the objectives set in each game...sounds like ever man's fantasy, right? This stuff is definitely fun, give it a try sometime.
